I don't get it??????

(pic courtesy: www.scoutshaachtstation.be/gfx/huh.gif)

I just don’t get it!!!
Sunday scribblings has given us the license to publicly rant. Hope you have time...This could get long.

Why is it that parents can read your every tone or sense a down cast mood…husbands on the other hand need a d*** placard!!

Why is it that when you work (I work from home), guests assume you are not doing anything and chat you up?

Telling a child fed on a diet of phonetics that apple cannot be spelt apl and cough is not the same as cuf…and not being able to explain why because phonetically, he’s right.

Why there are such few children in the playground and more inside their homes, looking at screens.

Why people feel the need to brush away my fears as inconsequential …For instance I fear heights…it is something ‘I’ have to overcome, I don’t need the added pressure of someone telling me it is nothing. You may fear something I don’t fear...

The fascination/obsession for a male child!!!!! As a young girl, I was always asked this one question…"you don’t have brothers?" It made me feel insignificant…My parents didn’t mind, why did others? No I don’t have brothers! If I did I would tell you…

Cruelty to someone weaker than you...

Technology strides...i'm crawling way behind

Jazzing up my blog :(

Poetry...:(

Bombastic language :)

awwww...Do I have to stop now?

I really get irked by...

the need for War,

racism

Fanaticism

Abuse

Child porn

sigh....How about you now?

you dont have to stop..keep pouring it out..all these will mellow down, all these will perhaps vanish with time i.e with age ..and you have a long way to go till then bear it,ignore it or simply pour out..if somebody says they are able to overcome all these with their god given intellect,i am skeptical!!
Thats my age speaking ma..Only that in your first point substitute.. hubby ..with.. wife ..lol

First time at your place, I like it. I agree with many of your thoughts. I love your head banner.

I am scared of heights too. People laugh at me when I feel giddy looking down from a second floor window. Why do they trivialise our fears? Idon't laugh at people who are scared of spiders. No wonder there are so many misanthropes in the world.

"phonetically right.."
Children these days know a lot more than I do :)
regarding people chat you up.. actually it does not matter if you are at home or work, people do chat you up.. and to be honest I am the other side of the story, one who chats up busy people :)

Well, I don't understand how people do learn to spell with phonetics - there are so many words that don't follow the rules. You sure have a lot of conundrums in your life.

well by golly as long as your list of "do get's" is longer than your list of don't.... i guess it will all work its way out in the end..... happy easter!!

I too do not get the need for war, or why anyone would want to hurt a child. And I am also technologically challenged. Happy Easter

You make a lot of good points. I don't get why people can't just be normal and nice... like me. :-)

You again voiced out quite a bit of exactly what i feel too.I couldnt agree with you more about people barging in (when you work from home) and more kids in front of the screen--AND the obsession for a male child in India.(Really sad--but it does exist)

That's the beauty of writing, you don't have to stop...get your frustrations out! Loved your list..so many things we can all relate to...

Yes, I LOVE the banner too!

i had a problem learning to write the English language when I was little (I spoke it but did not write it), because Spanish is a phonetical language. So, yeah, I happen to understand those children very well!

and I couldn't agree more on your choices of things that irk you....i'm with you all the way....

I understand about the fear thing - people need to remember that it's real to me.

You don't get poetry? lol - you and the rest of my family would get along quite well. Sometimes, I don't think they get *me*.

that is an excellent rant... spoken on the lighter side... it is indeed funny, sad and mystical... phonetics, husbands and the rest... heights, scary...and very real... try whenever i can to take it to the edge... have yet to overcome.. from a family of six... 5 girls and my brother is the oldest... he feels the pain as you do... great post!!...

Deepali said...

While I understand and agree with nearly all of the points, I most 'connect' with the phonetic English spellings one. Learning phonetically was so crazy and sometimes so embarassing cause when you were asked to spell something, there were all these weird pronunciations which people laughed at if they didn't learn abc as ah buh cu. Lol my spellings are still messed up.

My first time visiting. Your post is great... I do hate those people who "chat you up" and cannot take a visual cue to go away I am working - thank you very much! There are many others I agree with too!

aMus said...

@ladybug12: hey, welcome!! peeves are generally common..teh intensity with you hate them varies...c u again...

@deepali: i confess i've seen both sides of te coin..i remember being made to learn by rote...cat, mat, sat...we had these lines which kept repeating teh words...and i am good at my english...my elder boy learnt phonetics and he is very good too...

@ believer: thank you...looks like many are scared of heights...

@ rayshma..: i read that and commented too...cannot beieve so many actually 'dare' to question you :-P
